May 2001 - Singapore-listed Food Empire Holdings
Ltd's subsidiary Future Enterprises Pte Ltd has
been awarded the Singapore Star Award 2001 for
innovative design and packaging of three products
- Cosenza Cappuccino, FesAroma coffee mix and
Klassno Frozen Finger Food.
Future
Enterprises, the food and beverage manufacturing
and marketing arm of Food Empire Holdings, had
the highest number of winning entries in the Commercial
Category for Sales and Display Packaging. The
company will receive the Singapore Star Award
2001 at the award dinner tonight, which will be
graced by guest-of-honour BG George Yeo, Minister
for Trade and Industry.
The
Singapore Star Award is organised jointly by the
Packaging Council of Singapore and the Singapore
Confederation of Industries. The award is given
for innovative and creative designs with quality
products and packaging. It aims to recognise and
reward excellence in the use of design and technology
in packaging.
Mr
Tan Wang Cheow, Managing Director of Food Empire
Holdings and a Director of Future Enterprises
said: "I am very pleased with this achievement
as this is the second consecutive year we have
received the Star Award for the design of our
products. The recognition given to three of our
products is especially rewarding because the creation
of our products from concept to design and production
is done in-house by our staff."
He
added: " As a home-grown food and beverage manufacturer
and exporter, we believe it is important to raise
the standard of our products to compete internationally.
We will continue improving the quality of our
packaging and products to meet the increasingly
sophisticated demands of consumers world-wide."
Food
Empire Holdings is a leading food and beverage
enterprise that manufactures and markets ready-mixed
beverages, frozen finger food and candy. It has
received several international accolades for its
achievements including the prestigious 10 th Golden
American Award for Quality (given in New York
in 1998), the 22 nd Best Trade Name (Rome, 1997)
and the 10 th Golden Europe Award for Quality
(Paris, 1996).
Last
year, three of the Group's Klassno brand of hand-made
Asian finger food - shrimp dumplings, crispy seafood
deli, and butterfly seafood wantons - were singled
out for their innovative concept and packaging
and ease of preparation at SIAL, a biennial global
food exhibition held in Paris. These Asian snacks
were featured in the exhibition's coveted Innovation
and Trends Book 2000. They were also selected
by SIAL's organisers to be showcased in the Innovation
and Trends pavilion at the Paris show.
In Singapore, wholly-owned
subsidiary Future Enterprises was ranked the third
highest in terms of sales/turnover for small and
medium enterprises (SMES) by DP Information Network
at the SME 500 1999/2000 Awards.
